I have been looking forward to assist first-generation college students in a meaningful way, and am thrilled to be part of MentorForLife. My name is Grazia Gangitano, but everyone calls me Grace, so feel free to do so as well. My parents migrated from Sicily, Italy when they were adults, they did not speak English. However, they instilled in me the importance of getting an education in this country so I did not have to work in manual labor like they do. Therefore, I set out on my college journey, not knowing anything at all. I did not know what a FAFSA was or how to complete it. But I had to go to college and I would find a way. I did everything on my own, and since my graduation vowed to help other first-generation students make their transition to college easier and assist them in reaching their academic and personal goals. I now can do that as a leader within MentorForLife!
